Big weekend

Just had a great weekend in DC. Went down for my cousin Jimmy's wedding and got to see almost all of my family from the Keegan side. The wedding and reception were really fun. the only problem was a hitch with my flights down and back. BOTH of them were canceled! bad weather all up and down the east coast, and they CLAIMED they couldn't get the small plane through. So they rebooked me on Delta, who takes a bigger plane. So no sweat. And Casey Bama, I know you wanted to read it on the blog, so yes, I won. :)

JACKHAMMERING Part Deux

Now, as some of you may remember, back in February of 2007, i had a bit of a jackhammering situation (click here to refresh your memory). Well, I'm not sure what's going on down the street from me right now, but I'm smack dab in the middle of hour 5 of jackhammer hell yet again! I'm about to go to bed, so I really hope, whatever it is they need to access in the street THIS time, they get to lickety split.

Yankee Day!

So I just really had one of the greatest days ever. I got to Yankee Stadium at about 10:30 and my job was to be the talent escort which meant I was responsible for making sure our talent was happy, had whatever they needed, was where they were supposed to be when they were supposed to be there, etc. Well, the talent were REALLY fun. Bucky Dent and Mickey Rivers, 2 Yankees who played on the 78 world series team. You might remember Bucky as the guy who Red Sox fans call Bucky "Effing" Dent when he hit a crucial homer to beat the sox in the AL east championship.

Anyway, so Bucky and I were fast friends. We just hung out for awhile and watched the softball games that were going on. We did a little cheering and heckling. He's a world class heckler. hehe. At one point he wanted to play to catch, so I let him use the mitt that my friend Rich had let me borrow. It was a weird looking mitt, and he said, "What is this thing, a dinosaur paw!?" So then I send Rich a text that said that Bucky Dent was currently playing with his mitt. He writes back to have him sign it thanks for letting him use it. So I ask him and he signs it "Rich, thanks for this ugly glove. Bucky Dent" SO SO SO funny. Can't wait to give it back to Rich. He was SUPER nice, we got our pic taken together and he even gave me a little kiss on the cheek when he left.

Other than making friends with bucky, I also played catch on the outfield grass for about 30 minutes and took a tour of the Yankee locker room! Got to see where Jeter, ARod and Robinson Cano get dressed. At one point I was walking by myself on the warning track and I looked up and thought wow, this is one of the coolest things I've ever done. Guess I'm working at the right place!

AND...

it's friggin hot here. Yesterday was one of those days when it was SO hot and then it rains, and you'd THINK it would cool it down. But no, it just made it more humid and more miserable. It was a cool lightning storm though. booooo hot weather.

Official

SO I think I must be getting close to officially being a New Yorker. I know it is commonly known that you have to be here for 10 years to officially be one so I'm nowhere close, but I'm starting to recognize people on the street as people who I know simply as people on the street. Or on the subway. I remember when I first moved here I posted that that never happened to me. I never saw the same people, well I've now been around long enough to have it happen.

dodgeball

So the ball busters have just finished off another impressive season. We are 8-4 after regulation play which includes 2 games that we had to forfeit because of the kentucky derby. So we're cruising into the playoffs on a pretty good streak here! Had a little too much fun at the bar last night, but always worth it. Stay tuned for playoff updates!

lots of news

So since I last posted, I have a lot of news.

First, I have to send big congrats to my cousin Steve, who successfully graduated from marquette!! I went out for the great graduation of 08 and let me tell you, it was a doozy. Lots of Keegans, Ryans and great friends joined in the 3 day festivities! So glad I could be a part of it.

Second, I have a new job. I am now working as a marketing manager for the Sporting News magazine. I'm only on day 4 but I'm really liking it so far. My coworkers are great, my boss is great and I think it's going to be a really great fit.

Third, I'm going to Montana July 27-August 3 for my high school reunion. My friend Allie is coming with me and we are going to do all things montana. I am very excited.

Fourth, my Unk Bill and Tia Nancy came to visit me this weekend. We had a great time! Had some delicious dinners out, a "Met" day on Saturday which included a visit to the Met Museum of Art AND a Mets baseball game and good times visiting! They stayed with me, which is so much fun. The Keegan hotel is small, but the accommodations are worth the price. :)

Finally, I have recently discovered that 90210 is available to watch on CBS.com. I have been catching on on some past episodes that are all amazingly good (Unk and Tia, my apologies if i kept you up at my apartment with my newly discovered 90210 archive!! teehee)

I will post more, I promise! It is now "sweat season" in NY. And by that I mean, I will now sweat for 3 months straight. love it!
