Marketing gone bad

Is Purex kidding me? I keep seeing these commercials for their 3 in 1 laundry sheets and how they're going to make my life SO much easier.  A sheet that is detergent AND fabric softener so I can just put it in the washer with the load and then transfer it over to the dryer.  Boy, I've always thought it was REALLY hard to throw in separate detergent and dryer sheets with each load. Good thing they've simplified that for me.   Talk about someone in the marketing department coming up with something, deciding this is going to sell and telling them to produce it.  Ridiculous.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I've never been a big fan of Valentine's Day.  I think you should be kind and loving to the people in your life 365 days a year, not just because Hallmark tells you to, but I do hope everyone's Valentine's Day (and the rest of the days of your year!!) is full of lots of love.  Since my last post, I have been on two more dates.   They were both very fun, and there will likely be second dates with each.  Put those points in the bank! :)
xoxoxos on Valentine's Day to everyone!

Datewear

So as you may have heard, we had a bit of a blizzard here yesterday.  Luckily for me, and my impending date, it didn't leave too much snow and I'll be able to wear what was originally planned.  Thought you all might enjoy seeing the outfit.  Paired with tights and a pair of ankle boots, I'm hoping it's a hit.  The one shown here is in chocolate, I have the black.

Date Recap

By popular demand, let me expand a bit on the dates from the last week. Unfortunately for everyone's vicarious living, I'm not a fan at all of sharing details, so you'll likely only hear about the bad dates.  If you don't hear about it, assume it went well.

Anyway, I went out on two last Saturday, one with Johnny and one with Dave.  Johnny was first, he was nice, 35 lives in Queens and works in Manhattan.  We went to a cute little restaurant about 5 blocks from my apartment for a late lunch.  I had mushroom and onion crepes, he had a chicken sandwich.  Unfortunately, the zip from the onions was about the most exciting part of the date.

Then a little later I met Dave, 32, for a few beers at a bar also right by my apartment (see a trend here?) He was really fun, we had a good time. From St. Louis, math teacher, he even had a story about Kirby Puckett to share which I enjoyed.  We had fun, but just wasn't a love connection.  I think if we were two pals sitting around having a beer, it would have been really great.

I am meeting a guy named James for dinner on Thursday.  He is Australian and seems very nice.  Looking forward to it.

Dating Contest update: weekend 2

So this dating contest has really evolved into quite the extravaganza! It has gone from 2 contestants to 5 contestants and there have been a number of additional ways to score, as well as lose points, added.  A little background before I lay out the new rules.  So on match.com there are a few ways to communicate with people through the system. You can "wink" which basically just sends the other person an alert that they are interested in you.  You don't have to write anything, you just get a generic message from match.com.  Those are by far the easiest to send and it seems like people just randomly wink up a storm.  You can also send someone an email, where you actually have to write something.  Takes a little more thought.  And then if you're not interested in someone you can send them a "no thanks" where you choose from a list of generic reasons why you don't want to continue to communicate with this person.  So knowing that, the new rules are as follows:

+1 point for every 10 winks you receive
+1 point for every 5 emails you receive
-1 point for every "no thanks" you receive

And with those new rules applied retroactively to the beginning of the contest, we have my coworker Laura  leading the pack with 7 points, I'm close behind with 6 points, Anthony (my good friend Michele's younger brother) has been lucky enough to have 2 dates with the same person, which as everyone knows is worth extra points. I don't have his other scores, but will add them to his 3 points when he sends them in.  Allie, a strong competitor comes in at 3 points, and slow and steady, bringing up the rear is Drew with 2 winks and 0 points.

John Mayer and Derek Jeter...

I have often said, in the wake of celebrity sex scandals that the offending celebrity should take a page out of the Derek Jeter handbook for image preservation:  DON'T GET MARRIED.  You can run around with all the hottest women in the world and it is no one's business but your own, until you put a ring on one of them. Think about it, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter are both well-paid, good baseball players who run around with the likes of Madonna, Mariah Carey and other high-profile women.  Jeter, the perpetually single man is beloved by women everywhere, whereas A-Rod, the married man with two kids is considered a slime ball.  Clearly, John Mayer subscribes to the same philosophy. Tiger (and A-Rod for that matter), you could learn a lesson from these two.  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35189855/ns/entertainment-gossip/
