Twins!

In case anyone else doesn't follow baseball quite as closely as I do, I'd like to let you know that the Twins have passed the White Sox and are in prime position to win the American League wild card. They come to town next weekend. I can't wait to get to a game!
Go TWANKS!!!!!

Friends

Sorry i haven't posted for awhile. Been a bit of a crazy week. I went to the Colbert Report tonight with my friend, Drew. It was great as usual! Morgan Spurlock, the guy who made Super Size Me (one of my all time favorite movies) was the guest so beyond getting to see Colbert (who is one of my all time favorite human beings!) we got the treat of Morgan.
So I've made some new friends at work lately who have really turned out to be incredible human beings. New York is a big place full of millions of people, and somehow I came across one from Kentucky, one from Connecticut and one from Seattle who couldn't do better by me. They don't read this, but I hope they know how much they're appreciated. Maybe I'll send them the link. :)
So how is everyone? I've been kitty sitting for my cuz Caroline for the past week. It's been fun, except she lives way the HECK up on 103rd street. Yes, that's 93 blocks away from my apartment, 89 blocks farther up than I usually go! hehe. Hope all is well!

Boat Cruise

This is a pic of the statue of liberty from a boat cruise that I took Saturday night with Kate, my friend Drew and his friend Brienne. It was cool, it was this boat that leaves from midtown and they have bands on the boat. There are drinks and it cruises down by the statue of liberty and then back. It's really fun. Kate came up for it cause the band was one ofher favorites! Definitely worth it.

Heat Wave!!

So it's been well over 100 degrees in NY with the heat index for the past 3 days. Lucky for me, I got sick. Well ok, maybe not lucky for me, but I got to stay home instead of braving the heat today and yesterday. Tuesday was pretty unbearable though and let me tell you what the absolute worst part of the heat is. The subway: BAR NONE! Now, the cars themselves are air conditioned and actually quite pleasant but there are a few things about the platform that make it absolutely excrutiating to stand there for more than 30 seconds. 1. They aren't very far underground. So unlike the DC subway where you have to take the longest escalators in the history of escalators down to the platform the NYC subway platforms are maybe 2 flights of stairs away from the street, so it hasn't started cooling off. 2. The ceilings are very low. Again let's compare with the DC subway system. The ceilings on those platforms are REALLY high. So even if it's really hot, the heat has a long way to rise up before it hits those ceilings. In NYC the ceilings are maybe 15 feet tall so the heat just sits there and unless there is a train coming, it is totally stagnant. It's brutal. Anyway, the thunderstorms are rolling in right now so the heat wave is over. Hallelujah! And I'm feeling better. Perfect timing!
